1. What is the proper way to handle an inkjet cartridge?

Do not leave your cartridge outside the printer as ink will dry and clog the printhead nozzles. Use your cartridge immediately after it has been refilled by Inké.

2. Why does a cartridge print horizontal white lines?

There are two main causes for this:

  1. Clogged Printhead Nozzles
Dried ink residues may have blocked the printhead nozzles, which will prevent ink from flowing smoothly.

  2. "Burnt Out" Printhead Nozzles
Inkjet cartridges have electrical resistors that control the current to each outlet jet. The ink in the cartridge acts as a coolant for these resistors. However, when the cartridge is empty and you continue to print, overheating occurs. The resistance value will change, leading to color distortion, weak printing or both. This also limits the number of times the cartridge can be refilled.

3. Why does the printhead get clogged?

Ink that dries up at the nozzles will clog the printhead.

Remember: it is important to refill your cartridge as soon as it begins to run out of ink. This prevents the ink from drying, which will clog the printhead nozzles.

4. What should I do if the printhead is clogged with ink residue in the nozzles?

5. How can I prevent the printhead from burning out?

Do not print when print quality deteriorates.

Avoid printing in a "no ink" situation as this will overheat the resistors, which may damage the printhead.

Do not attempt to continue printing when printouts display white streaks. Clean or refill your cartridge if necessary.
